Salvation

There's pretty much only one strategy you can take on this level. You kill the first pair of guards, free the villagers, and run. About the only choices you have are whether to try and let the villagers out when the guards are away and see how far you can run before they catch up, or just to kill them all where they stand and let the villagers run for it. The former is the easier, recommended strategy, though Mythmasters would do well to follow the latter.

The first interesting thing on this level is the signposts. What's so interesting about signpost? Well these ones are remarkably detailed, and point accurately back toward Willow Creek and ahead to the graveyard Fosgarach Rullick. Juan Ramirez's last name features on one of these signs.

The second interesting factoid is the headstones of Myth II team members lining the edges of the graveyard. Here we see Frank Pusateri...

...Paul S. Clift...

...Juan Ramirez...

...Bob Settles...

...David Bowman...

("I'm sorry, Dave, but I can't let you jeapordise the mission..." [BLAM])

...Jonathan Haas...

...Konrad Sherinian...

...Tuncer Deniz...

...Mark Bernal...

....and Jason Regier. Note that these last three are separated from the previous seven, and are larger, as they bear the names of the more senior Bungie employees.

The last thing to note is that all four villagers here are all named "Rurik", because on the next level, one of them (named Rurik) has to lead you to Tallow. But, of course, we don't know that by this point, and if the script had it so you only had to save the one named Rurik, then that would raise some questions. (You do only need one of them to survive, however).

So they are all named Rurik, but with honorifics. Honorifics like "Rurik the Portly", "Rurik the Daft", "Rurik the Elder", and "Rurik the Lame". I think I saw that last one on Bungie.net once...
