(The 0-9 formation types are simple formations, or formation-stances. Combinations of these are complex formations, such as a CB formation.)

Formation Types

C-Form

The most renown and often-used formation for carpet bombing is the "Classic" Formation, the C-Formation. It's existed since the winter of late 97, and has been in use ever since.

Fetch to Dwarf Ratio

3 : 2

Class

Medium

Organization and Function

The base formation consists of three fetch standing horizontally, facing forward, the direction in which this form is aimed, and two dwarves standing behind the fetch. Both units are in formation-stance #3. The dwarves (all cocktailer dwarves in CB are heroes) throw their cocktails through the gaps between the fetch to a spot in front of the fetch. The fetch then aim for a point behind the trajected impact point of the dwarven cocktails, and fire before the cocktails land. This uses the dome forcewaves of the flashpoint lightning.

Variant Formations

Variants include differing numbers of CB units in the same base formation (though the bast formation tends to be the most æffective), such as dwarf to fetch ratios of 3:4, 2:1, 4:4, and 6:6 (highly unrecommended).

L-Form

The L-Formation is, arguably, the most powerful and most deadly organization of CB units.

Fetch to Dwarf Ratio

3 : 6

Class

Large

Organization and Function

The base formation has three fetch facing their 2 to 3 o'clock (if forward is 12 o'clock) in a #1 or #2 simple formation. There are six dwarves that face foward in a straight line in #2 formation-stance. The fetch can stand at either end of the dwarf line (referred to as the "dwarf arm").

The fetch are numbered 1, 2, and 3 from the fore to the back where the last fetch is near the first dwarf. The Dwarves are numbered 1-6 from where the fetch line ends.

This organization of the CB units makes for the distinctive L-shape of the formation.

The fetch fire across and past the end of the dwarf arm as the dwarves pick a target that is directly in front of the 3rd and 4th dwarves.

Variant Formations

Some F:D variants: 2:2 (extremely æfective as a medium-range CB), 2:5, 4:6, and 3:4 (perhaps superior in efficiency to the 3:6).

1-Form

The 1-Formation is named after its organization, having just one fetch.

Fetch to Dwarf Ratio

1 : 1

Class

Small

Organization and Function

There can be more dwarves, but one works the best. There are also an infinite number of ways to position the CB units, as long as the fetch can fire reasonably close to the dwarf. The lightning is usually fired at an angle underneath the trajectory of the molotov cocktail.

Because of the freedom of the formation, the shape of the formation can always be anamorphous. There is only one cocktail to worry about and just one fetch's forewave to consider.

Variant Formations

As said, there are nearly infinitely different ways to position the fetch and dwarf, so expect to see many different variations, including the 1:6, 1:2, and others.
