The Pirates of Leix is a clan, an order of players from the realtime strategy game Myth, having congregated together due to our common interest in piratical pursuits, in funloving and rascallous behavior, in enjoying and proliferating the game of Myth.
Myth: The Fallen Lords was the first installment of the series, raleased in the Fall 1997, and its sequel, Myth II: Soulblighter, came out just over a year later. Both games, published by the now defunct Bungie, had a multiplayer capacity that has kept them alive ever since. Due to some interesting idiosynchrosies of both games, the community became divided, separated into those who preferred the game style, physics, and many other aesthetic factors of the original Myth: TFL, and those who liked better the graphics and expandability (as through plugins and other third-party applications) of Myth II. We Pirates have nearly always been among those preferring TFL over its sequel.
But, now that all is for naught! a moot point lost to the unfortunate past. Indeed, the prosperous future brings us the latest innovation from the renowned third-party map and plugin designer group known as Magma, a creation to bring union to the Myth Community: Myth II v1.4. Bungie never released updates to Myth II higher than version 1.3. However, Magma recently was able to attain the rights to alter and improve the game, which they altruistically do completely for free, just as to benefit the Community. Their first innovation was Myth II v1.3.2, which improved a few basic aspects of the old but classic game, primarily allowing more advanced operating systems (such as Mac OS X) to play the game with ease.
Myth 1.4 is leagues beyond even this. In addition to fixing countless little bugs and annoyances with Myth II that always bothered TFL-lovers, and others, Magma has created a version of Myth II which has an enclaved mode for playing games as if one is playing TFL! Indeed, the Virtual Myth I mode, the vTFL, is designed to be exactly like Myth I, having all the same physics and other attributes so beloved by TFLers. Check out Magma's site to see more of the wonder.
This revalation was incredible. It meant a future for Myth, and, therefore, so as well for the Pirates. And so, we voyage on, spreading our piratically funloving, jovial, rascallious way, enjoying the game we love so very much, in a community no longer divided.
